• West Region Cyber Police arrested four Valueleaf India Services Pvt Ltd employees, including finance head Gigil Sebastian, with others identified as Dipayan Tapan Banerjee, Daniel Arumugham and Chandrashekhar Bhimsen Naik.
• Investigators allege Valueleaf provided its Meta advertiser ID to Chinese operators who placed fake ads featuring a SEBI-registered market analyst’s deepfaked videos.
• Victims who clicked the ads were added to WhatsApp groups and prodded to invest in sham online share-trading platforms before being removed when they asked for refunds.
• Police say the company received about Rs 3 crore in Indian and UAE currency from the overseas operators for granting ad access.
• A case is registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act, Meta had displayed a yellow flag on the videos, the accused were remanded to police custody, and the probe now extends to other ad agencies.
