Mumbai Plans 22-Hour Water Cut Friday for Valve Work in Kurla, Chembur, Sion and Ghatkopar

BMC says the shutdown enables replacement of five valves across Tansa, Vihar mains to boost long-term reliability.

Overview

  • Water supply will be off from 10:00 am on Nov 14 to 8:00 am on Nov 15 in L ward (Kurla) and M/West ward (Chembur).
  • N ward (Ghatkopar) and F/North ward (Matunga–Sion) face a shorter cut from 3:45 am to 8:00 am on Nov 15.
  • The work replaces four butterfly valves and one sluice valve on the old and new Tansa mains (1200 mm) and the Vihar trunk main (800 mm).
  • Affected localities include Tilak Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Shell Colony, Bhakti Park, Sion East and West, Matunga East, Wadala and parts of Chunabhatti.
  • BMC has urged residents to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during the planned maintenance window.
