Overview
- The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Mumbai and neighbouring districts through August 19 in anticipation of continued extremely heavy rainfall.
- Mumbai recorded approximately 177 mm of rain in six to eight hours on August 18, leading to severe waterlogging that disrupted flights, trains and road traffic.
