Overview

  • Mumbai recorded about 177 mm of rain in six to eight hours, with localized peaks up to 194.5 mm in Vikhroli, and several western and central neighborhoods topping 120–185 mm.
  • BMC closed all schools and colleges for Tuesday and urged residents to limit travel, as holidays were also declared in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
  • Waterlogging inundated low-lying areas such as Dadar, Sion–Gandhi Market, Byculla, Andheri and Vile Parle, and the Andheri subway was shut to traffic.

  • Officials reported seven rain-related deaths across Maharashtra, disaster-response teams were deployed, and coastal and fishing advisories stayed in effect alongside high‑tide alerts.
