Overview

  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the final 76-km leg between Igatpuri and Amane on June 5, marking the full opening of the 701-km, six-lane Samruddhi Mahamarg.
  • The expressway runs through 10 districts and 392 villages and connects to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, JNPT and major tourist destinations including Shirdi and the Ajanta-Ellora Caves.
  • Drivers now bypass the Kasara Ghat climb via five twin tunnels spanning 10.73 km and multiple viaducts, including Maharashtra’s longest 7.78-km-wide tunnel near Igatpuri.
  • Built at a cost of around ₹61,000 crores, up from an initial ₹55,335 crores, the corridor features 92 wildlife overpasses, eight underpasses, noise barriers and plans for 200 MW of solar power.
  • With travel time halved to eight hours, authorities plan to complete the Vadpe interchange by mid-2026 and roll out connections to Vadhvan Port and the proposed Shaktipeeth Expressway.
