Mumbai Metro Lines Run Later for 12-Day Ganeshotsav

The temporary timetable changes aim to offer safer late-night travel for devotees, reducing road congestion during the festival.

Overview

  • Metro operators have issued coordinated festival schedules that run from September 14 to September 25 to handle expected late-night crowds.
  • Mumbai Metro One will extend services so the last train on the Versova–Ghatkopar corridor reaches Versova at 1:03 am under the special schedule.
  • MMRC’s Metro Line 3 will operate until midnight and MMRDA-managed Lines 2A, 2B, 7 and 9 will run until 12:30 am with 10–15 extra trips on those corridors.
  • Officials set operational guidance alongside the timetable changes, including a reported 18-inch limit for Ganesh idols on Metro 3 and Central Railway moving PRS counters to a reduced schedule on September 14.
  • Commuters are asked to check revised timetables, plan late-night trips in advance, and treat the extensions as short-term, festival-only measures focused on crowd control and safety.
