Mumbai Metro Line 4/4A Trials to Begin Monday on Cadbury Junction–Gaimukh Stretch

MMRDA targets a phased start focused on Ghodbunder Road relief, pending full depot readiness.

Overview

  • Trial runs start on September 22 for the 10.5 km section between Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh in Thane.
  • The phase includes 10 stations, with key stops such as Kapurbawdi, Manpada, Tikuji-ni-Wadi, Dongripada, Vijay Garden and Kasarvadavali.
  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar are expected to flag off the first run.
  • With the Mogharpada depot not yet operational, MMRDA will use inspection pits beyond Gaimukh for testing and upkeep during trials.
  • Trial coaches were lowered onto the tracks on August 25 for testing only, and MMRDA is aiming to open this stretch to passengers by year-end as the wider 32.3 km Line 4/4A is rolled out in phases.
