Overview
- Japan International Cooperation Agency has confirmed the Oct. 8 opening, making the full 33.5 km Aarey–Cuffe Parade corridor with 27 stations ready for service.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the final section, according to multiple reports.
- The last phase adds 11 underground stations: Science Centre, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai Central, Grant Road, Girgaon, Kalbadevi, CSMT, Hutatma Chowk, Churchgate, Vidhan Bhavan and Cuffe Parade.
- The line integrates with Mumbai Central, Churchgate and CSMT for suburban rail transfers and provides access to both airport terminals.
- Projected journeys include about 45 minutes from Cuffe Parade to the Domestic Airport and roughly 54 minutes Aarey–Cuffe Parade; distance-based fares start at Rs 10 and rise to Rs 60 up to 36 km, with NCMC, paper QR and WhatsApp e-tickets supported.
