Mumbai Metro Line 3 Fully Opens: Final Stretch Inauguration on Oct. 8, Service Starts Oct. 9

Commercial service across the 33.5 km corridor begins Oct. 9 after safety clearance for the WorliCuffe Parade leg.

Overview

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the WorliCuffe Parade section on Oct. 8, a date also confirmed by project funder JICA.
  • The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has authorised Phase 2B; first trains depart Aarey JVLR and Cuffe Parade at 5:55 am with last departures at 10:30 pm.
  • The final segment adds 11 stations from Science Centre to Cuffe Parade, including Mumbai Central, CSMT, Hutatma Chowk, Churchgate and Vidhan Bhavan.
  • Distance‑based fares start at Rs 10 and go up to Rs 60, with ticketing via NCMC cards, paper QR tickets and WhatsApp e‑tickets.
  • The fully underground Aqua Line links South Mumbai to SEEPZ and the airports (T1 and T2) with interchanges to suburban rail at Mumbai Central, Churchgate and CSMT, and the end‑to‑end trip is estimated at about 54 minutes.
