Mumbai Metro Line 14 Bids Open as Project Secures Technical Clearance

Overview

  • The 45-km Magenta Line will connect Kanjurmarg in Mumbai to Badlapur in Thane district and slash journey times from two hours to under one hour.
  • The ₹18,000-crore corridor is being developed under a public-private partnership model, with private firms invited to submit bids by July 28, 2025.
  • Technical clearance was granted based on a detailed project report prepared by Milan Metro and reviewed by IIT Bombay.
  • Consultants are conducting environmental and forest impact assessments for stretches crossing the Parsik Hills and the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary.
  • The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is awaiting the final green light from the state government before launching construction in 2026.
