Overview

• The 5.4 km stretch of Mumbai Metro 2B between Diamond Garden in Chembur and Mandale in Mankhurd has been live-charged and is ready for trial runs beginning April 16, 2025.
• This section includes five stations—Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL Metro, Mankhurd, and Mandale—enhancing connectivity in Mumbai's eastern suburbs.
• The trial process will include integration testing, loaded trials, and inspections by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety before public operations can begin.
• The line features six-coach, energy-efficient trains manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), equipped with modern amenities like mobile charging points and surveillance systems.
• Once fully operational by December 2026, the 23.6 km Metro 2B will integrate with major transit networks, reducing travel time by up to 75%.
