Overview
- Aliya Bano Salim Khan, 55, died after a speeding dumper struck her son’s scooter around 11:45 pm on Monday on the Sion–Mahim Link Road bridge in Mahim.
- Her son, Mohammad Tabrez Salim Khan, 29, who was riding the scooter, suffered head and hand injuries and remains hospitalized.
- Witness accounts relayed by police say the dumper approached from behind at high speed, was driven recklessly in a zigzag manner, and its wheel ran over the victim.
- Mahim Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 106, as well as Sections 125 and 281, plus Section 324 and Motor Vehicles Act violations.
- Officers say the driver fled the scene; an FIR based on the son’s complaint has been filed and investigators are using the vehicle number to trace the accused.
