Overview
- A Level-I fire at Sorrento Tower in Andheri West was reported at 10:05 am and was fully extinguished by 11:37 am.
- The blaze was confined to electrical wiring and installations in the shaft between the 10th and 21st floors, with nearby items such as routers and wooden furniture affected.
- About 30 to 40 residents were escorted from a 16th-floor refuge area via the staircase, and two men and one woman were rescued from flat 1503 using breathing apparatus.
- Multiple agencies responded at the high-rise, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, electricity distribution staff, ambulance crews and ward personnel.
- In Thane’s Samata Nagar, a parked generator-mounted vehicle caught fire at 10:32 am, was extinguished by 10:47 am with the vehicle and generator gutted, and officials reported no casualties as the Andheri fire’s cause remains under investigation.
