Mumbai Extends Metro Lines 2A and 7 to Midnight for Ganeshotsav, Adding 12 Daily Trips

Officials will monitor demand during the festival with scope to deploy additional trains if crowds exceed projections.

Overview

  • From August 27 to September 6, the last trains from Andheri West on Line 2A and Gundavali on Line 7 will depart at 12:00 am instead of 11:00 pm.
  • Weekday services rise to 317 trips from 305, with peak headways of 5 minutes 50 seconds and non-peak headways of 9 minutes 30 seconds.
  • Saturday operations increase to 256 trips with peak headways of 8 minutes 6 seconds and non-peak headways of 10 minutes 25 seconds.
  • Sunday schedules expand to 229 trips with a flat 10-minute headway across the day to manage festival travel.
  • State leaders, including Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde, endorsed the plan, as MMRDA cited record ridership and growing paperless ticketing; a fare review committee is in place for Lines 2A and 7.
