- Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced the policy on Oct. 14 via a post on X.
- Residents and businesses no longer need to file in the area of their residence or workplace, removing a long-standing location requirement.
- The reform covers property agreements, lease deeds, inheritance deeds and other related documents handled by stamp offices.
- Services are available across six Mumbai locations, including Borivali, Kurla, Andheri, Mumbai City and the main office near the Old Custom House (Enforcement 1 and 2).
- NDTV reported the change is effective immediately, and it noted Bawankule’s separate push to settle land measurement cases within 30 days with additional surveyor support.
