Mumbai Enacts Odd-Even Parking in Eastern Suburbs Through Mid-August

The move targets double-sided parking on narrow lanes to keep emergency routes clear.

Overview

  • Mumbai Traffic Police rolled out temporary odd-even parking across the eastern suburbs, now in force for roughly three months.
  • The rule permits parking on the north side on even calendar dates and on the south side on odd dates to stop cars lining both kerbs.
  • Orders name stretches in Mulund, Chembur, Chunabhatti, Trombay, Mankhurd, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg and Ghatkopar, with selected Sakinaka roads added under the same system.
  • Tembhipada Road in Bhandup West now runs one way, and police advised alternate routes to relieve a recurring bottleneck.
  • Traffic officials issued the measures under the Motor Vehicles Act, with an order signed by Pradeep Chavan, and warned of strict action against violations.
