Overview

  • On June 4 a man attempted to snatch Dr. Deepali Deshmukh’s purse on the slow-moving LTT-Nanded Special Express between Kanjurmarg and Bhandup stations, triggering a violent struggle.
  • Deepali Deshmukh was dragged out of the moving train and suffered serious injuries when she fell onto the tracks.
  • Her husband, Ayurvedic doctor Yogesh Deshmukh, jumped from the train to save her and lost his left arm in the process.
  • The couple’s nine-year-old daughter was safely evacuated at Kalyan station without injury.
  • Kurla GRP officers have registered an FIR under Section 309 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and enlisted RPF teams to identify and apprehend the at-large suspect.
