Overview
- Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) will run special night services from 10:30 pm on December 31 to 5:55 am on January 1, with regular operations resuming immediately afterward.
- Central Railway will operate four suburban specials between CSMT–Kalyan and CSMT–Panvel, while Western Railway will run eight Churchgate–Virar services through the night.
- BEST will add late-night buses to seafront hotspots on routes C-86, 203, 231 and AC routes A-21, A-112, A-116, A-247, A-272, A-294, with heritage tour buses running from early evening into the early hours.
- In Bengaluru, BMRCL extends trains on the Purple and Green lines until 2:00 am and on the Yellow Line up to 3:10 am, closes MG Road station from 10:00 pm, and halts token sales at Trinity and Cubbon Park after 11:00 pm, while BMTC runs midnight buses from MG Road and Brigade Road.
- Authorities plan extra GRP and RPF deployment at busy Mumbai stations, and the overnight Metro 3 operation marks the first New Year’s Eve use of the fully opened 33.5 km underground corridor linking Colaba to Aarey JVLR.
