• Unit-6 officers used a decoy at Ram Mobile Service Centre in Tunga village, Powai, and witnessed an immediate IMEI change on a handset.
• Police identified the accused as shop owner Ramprasad Sargun Rajbhar, 37, and mechanic Gulam Rasool Rashid Khan, 21.
• Investigators say the pair altered identifiers on devices that included stolen phones to enable resale in the second-hand market.
• Powai Police registered CR No. 991/2025 under BNS sections 336(2), 336(3), 340(2), 3(5) and Section 65 of the IT Act, then transferred the case to the Crime Branch.
