Overview

  • Main construction of the Carnac Bridge finished on June 10, meeting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s revised deadline
  • A mandatory load test is scheduled for June 13, with final clearance and opening for traffic planned by June 15 following expert review
  • The 328-meter structure features four vehicular lanes and a 70-meter section over railway tracks, supported by two 550-ton steel girders
  • The bridge is expected to cut travel time between South Mumbai’s east and west ends from up to 40 minutes to under 10 minutes
  • Remaining works including painting, lighting and signage are due by June 14, while the western slip road and staircase will be completed after the monsoon season
