Police say the trail leads to an Ethiopia-based network, with probes now zeroing in on handlers, financiers.

Overview

  • Dongri police transported Tarun Kapoor, Himanshu Shah and Sahil Attari from a Chennai prison and secured police custody until November 18 in the September 2 seizure of 3 kg cocaine from Sabina Guest House.
  • Investigators say the cocaine was sourced through an Ethiopia-based syndicate and concealed in capsule-like packets inside luggage before being stored at the guest house.
  • NCB had earlier intercepted Shah and Attari at Chennai airport and seized about 5 kg of cocaine, after which both named Kapoor as the alleged mastermind.
  • In a separate operation, Navi Mumbai’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested two brothers in Taloja and seized 158 grams of heroin and 40 grams of opium worth about Rs 1.17 crore, with five identified suspects currently absconding.
  • Jammu police arrested two alleged peddlers and recovered 3.260 kg of heroin valued at roughly Rs 15 crore near Shastri Nagar, registering a case under the NDPS Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
