Mumbai Airport Sets Single-Day Record With 1,036 Air Traffic Movements

The operator credits digital upgrades and tighter safety processes for handling peak festive travel.

  • On November 21, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport handled 1,036 flights, including 520 arrivals and 516 departures.
  • Of the total movements, 755 were domestic flights and 281 were international, according to MIAL.
  • Passenger throughput reached 170,488, just below the all-time single-day high of 170,516 set on January 11, with 86,443 arrivals and 84,045 departures.
  • The heaviest traffic flowed on domestic routes to Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata, and on international routes to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London Heathrow, Doha and Jeddah.
  • MIAL, which operates the Adani GroupAAI-run airport, cites self-service systems, DigiYatra adoption and an upgraded operations control center as key to maximizing capacity under a single-runway configuration.
