Overview

• The Railways Ministry announced the opening of the first section of the 21 km undersea tunnel between Bandra Kurla Complex and Thane.
• Viaduct construction has reached 310 km, covering over 60% of the corridor’s elevated track.
• In a strategic Indo-Japanese move, Japan will deploy next-generation E10 Shinkansen trains simultaneously in India and Japan.
• Civil works have advanced briskly with five of twelve stations complete, three more nearing the final stage, fifteen river bridges finished and four in advanced construction.
• Track laying, overhead electrification and procurement of signalling and control systems are proceeding rapidly across the route.
