Overview

  • Law enforcement reported at least six shootings and four fatalities across Chicago and New York during the July 12–13 weekend.
  • Chicago police responded to five separate incidents including a scooter drive-by in Old Town, a Kennedy Expressway shooting, an argument-related attack in the Loop, an attempted armed robbery in Lakeview, and a second slaying on the Near North Side.
  • Obbie Sanders is charged with last week’s Near North Side murder, marking the first arrest amid continued investigations into other shootings where suspects remain at large.
  • In Queens, a 41-year-old man was fatally shot in a drive-by in South Jamaica and a 27-year-old was found dead near Lafayette Gardens in Clinton Hill.
