Multiple Switch Repairs Disrupt Berlin S‑Bahn Services

Limited track access at key switches is forcing S‑Bahn Berlin to run fewer and shorter services to keep trains moving during ongoing repairs.

Overview

  • Repair work on switches at Westkreuz and Warschauer Straße has forced reduced frequencies, canceled booster trains and truncated routes across several S‑Bahn lines.
  • The S3 is operating only between Friedrichshagen and Ostbahnhof with taktverstärkende (frequency‑boosting) trains canceled, and the S75 runs only between Wartenberg and Lichtenberg.
  • The S5 is running between Strausberg Nord/Hoppegarten and Charlottenburg with some booster services removed and passengers advised to use S3, S7 or S9 between Charlottenburg and Westkreuz.
  • Separate police and medical incidents produced temporary disruptions earlier on S1, S25 and S85 and caused isolated outages and delays on the Ringbahn lines S41 and S42.
  • Baumschulenweg switch work is reported complete but residual delays remain across multiple lines and S‑Bahn Berlin continues to publish routing updates and service adjustments for passengers.
