Overview
- Multiple, separate shootings on Indianapolis’ east side began Thursday night and continued into Friday morning, leaving at least two people dead and several others injured.
- Officers found a woman shot in a car on the 20 block of Hendricks Place Thursday night and a man arrested there faces a preliminary murder charge.
- Minutes after the Hendricks Place call, officers found a man with gunshot wounds on the 4200 block of N Franklin Road who was taken to a hospital and died, and a person detained at that scene was later released.
- Detectives responded Friday morning to the 1000 block of N Ewing Street where a woman with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound was found, investigators are examining a possible suicide and two people were detained at that scene.
- A separate Friday-night shooting on the 1900 block of Kildare Avenue left two people injured, scanner and social-media posts suggested a possible officer-involved shooting but IMPD has not confirmed that claim, and the Marion County Coroner will release victim names and official causes after next-of-kin notification.
