Authorities are urging consumers to return affected packages after tests revealed serious contamination across multiple sausage varieties sold at major German chains.

  • Heidemark Landfrische GmbH & Co. KG recalled its Gut&Günstig Delikatess Geflügel-Fleischwurst (400 g, MHD 22.07.2025, DE NI 10067 EG) on June 19 after incomplete heating allowed Clostridium botulinum to survive.
  • Natur Food GmbH pulled its Yörükoglu Narli Cevizli Sucuk (300 g, Los 01.107) on June 20 upon detecting the unauthorized dye Cochenillenrot A (E124), which can trigger pseudoallergic and hypersensitivity reactions.
  • Tillman’s Convenience GmbH issued a recall on June 21 for Zimbo Frische Schinken-Zwiebelmettwurst Klassik (200 g, Charge 38202198) after finding verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli that can cause severe diarrhea and cramps.
  • Affected products were sold at Edeka, Marktkauf and Lidl outlets across several federal states and can be returned without a receipt for a full refund.
  • Consumers are advised to check expiration dates and lot numbers, return any matching items and seek medical attention if they experience weakness, allergic symptoms or gastrointestinal distress.
