Multiple Protests and Major Events to Disrupt Central Mexico City

City security officials released a rolling mobilization agenda that will strain central corridors and force commuters to use alternate routes.

Overview

  • The city's security agency (SSC‑CDMX) published daily agendas that on Friday, October 9 listed one main march by Trabajadoras Sexuales Unidas e Independientes departing the Fiscalía toward Alcaldía Cuauhtémoc to demand institutional responses after alleged attacks.
  • On Saturday, October 10 the SSC added a large Alianza Global por Palestina march from the Ángel de la Independencia to the Hemiciclo a Juárez as part of an international action day.
  • For Sunday the SSC forecast more than a dozen mobilizations including at least seven concentrations, one motorcycle rodada and multiple bicycle rodadas that will affect Monumento a la Revolución, Alameda Central and other central sites.
  • Large gatherings such as the XXVI Feria del Libro at the Zócalo and several stadium concerts will overlap with protests and are expected to sharply increase pedestrian and vehicle congestion across Paseo de la Reforma and the Centro Histórico.
  • Authorities are urging people to leave earlier, follow OVIAL for live route updates and use recommended alternatives because closures and high attendance at events could cause delays for transit users, businesses and residents in the affected boroughs.
