Overview
- Regional G1 reports detail a string of separate crashes on Nov. 7–8 that killed drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and passengers across states including São Paulo, Maranhão, Tocantins, Pará, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina.
- Police arrested a driver in São Paulo after a 76-year-old woman was run over while sweeping the street and investigators say the suspect showed signs of intoxication; the case was registered as involuntary homicide.
- In Maranhão a 17-year-old motorcyclist was located and will face an act analogous to double involuntary homicide after an elderly couple were struck, with the wife later dying in hospital and the husband dying at the scene.
- Other deadly crashes included a truck loaded with wood that overturned on TO-222 killing the driver, a motorcycle crash in Jundiaí that killed a 19-year-old, and multiple capotamentos and collisions that left several injured and prompted SAMU and bombeiros responses.
- Officials have opened pericial examinations and requested necropsies while police continue inquiries, and families of victims face funerals and pending legal processes as authorities investigate causes such as risky overtaking, loss of control and alleged distraction or intoxication.
