Overview
- A series of separate incidents between July 19 and July 21 forced full or partial closures on the A1, A52, M25/A282, M62 and M1 and created long diversion routes for drivers.
- Nottinghamshire Police and National Highways closed the A1 in both directions between Carlton-on-Trent and Tuxford after a serious collision involving an HGV and a motorcycle with the road expected to stay shut for several hours.
- A multi-vehicle crash on the A52 near Stapleford drew a large emergency response including Derbyshire Police, fire crews, ambulance services and an air ambulance and the westbound carriageway reopened Tuesday morning after overnight investigation and recovery.
- Kent Police said a motorcyclist in his 60s was seriously injured on the northbound A282 by the Dartford Crossing and was taken to a London hospital while one lane remained closed for recovery as other lanes reopened.
- A welfare incident on the M1 near Barnsley was resolved when a man was rescued and the motorway reopened, M62 lane closures and hold-ups eased after an earlier crash, and collision investigations and recovery work continue at affected sites so drivers should expect delays and follow signed diversions.
