FC Istiklol announced his death on January 1, and his widow confirmed it in comments to TASS.
He suffered a stroke in February, experienced further apoplectic attacks, and was placed on a ventilator in a Moscow ICU in mid‑November.
He won the 1994 Russian championship with Spartak Moscow and scored a Champions League group‑stage winner against Dynamo Kyiv.
He earned one cap for Tajikistan and one for Russia, scoring in his 1995 appearance for Russia against the Faroe Islands.
After retiring he coached and held executive roles, including sporting director at Rubin Kazan during title‑winning seasons and leadership positions at FC Istiklol.
