Overview
- Manhattan Theatre Club announced that Lauren Ambrose and Tom Riley will lead its Off-Broadway American premiere of Nick Payne’s play The Unbelievers at City Center Stage I this fall.
- The production is scheduled to begin performances on October 13 and will be directed by Knud Adams, who makes his MTC debut after directing recent Pulitzer Prize-winning plays.
- The play follows Miriam and David, played by Ambrose and Riley, and their blended family as they cope with the unresolved disappearance of their teenage son.
- Both Ambrose and Riley will be making their first appearances for MTC while Payne returns to a company that previously premiered his works Constellations and Incognito.
- MTC said additional casting and creative-team members will be announced soon and that it will release further season programming details in the coming weeks.
