Overview
- The new pattern will run on weekdays from about 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with nights and weekends unchanged.
- F trains will shift to the 53rd Street tunnel alongside the E, serving Queens Plaza, Court Square, Lexington Avenue–53rd Street and Fifth Avenue–53rd Street.
- M trains will move to the 63rd Street tunnel, serving 21st Street–Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Avenue–63rd Street and 57th Street.
- MTA analysis attributes 15%–20% of rush-hour delays to the Queens Plaza interlocking and estimates roughly 47,000 morning riders will save about one minute.
- Agency documents project about $1 million in annual costs and note that roughly 2% of riders could face up to four additional minutes on parts of the 63rd Street segment.
