MTA Implements Wide-Ranging Jan. 9–12 Subway Disruptions Across Most Lines
The concentrated work window targets aging track switches and CBTC upgrades to improve long-term reliability.
Overview
- Only the F, M, Q, 1 and 6 trains, plus the Franklin Av and Rockaway Park shuttles, are running normally from late Friday through early Monday as most routes face reroutes, skipped stops or suspensions.
- On the A/C, Queens-bound A trains run via the F between Jay St–MetroTech and West 4th St, uptown C trains skip Spring St, 23rd St and 50th St, downtown C trains run via the F, and there is no overnight C service.
- The 3 train is suspended all weekend; the 2 does not run between Chambers St and Flatbush Av; 5 trains replace 2 service between E 180 St and Wakefield–241 St; 4 service sees Bronx skip-stops, reduced frequency and some trains terminating at 125 St.
- In Brooklyn and Queens, there is no J service between Crescent St and Jamaica Center and no L service between Lorimer St and Broadway Junction; the G operates only between Court Sq–23 St and Bedford–Nostrand Avs with no service to Church Av.
- Flushing-bound 7 trains skip 82nd St, 90th St, 103rd St and 111th St, and riders are urged to use shuttle links and alternate routes, check the MTA app for updates, and note some patterns are scheduled to repeat on upcoming weekends, with Metro-North accommodating riders between University Heights or Wakefield and Grand Central at no extra cost during related 4/5 work.
