Overview
- MTA and USTA announced expanded service on Thursday, Aug. 20, that begins with Fan Week on Sunday, Aug. 23 and runs through the tournament.
- The LIRR will add the Mets–Willets Point stop to four additional westbound morning peak Port Washington Branch trains and four additional eastbound evening peak trains and will add an extra train in each direction plus more cars on evening runs.
- The 7 line will run both local and express service and the MTA will stage extra post-match trains with up to seven express 7 trains after the final match each night to move crowds more quickly.
- Off-peak LIRR CityTicket fares to Mets–Willets Point will be about $5–$5.25 and subway and bus rides remain the standard $3 while the agencies have set a nearby Access-A-Ride pickup and drop-off and are using apps and recorded messages by Billie Jean King and Patrick McEnroe to guide riders.
- The moves are meant to cut driving and ease parking strain caused by Citi Field construction and overlapping Mets games and build on last year’s record LIRR tennis ridership, so riders should use the MTA and TrainTime apps for real-time schedules and crowding updates.
