Overview

  • The board approved the package 11-0 with two abstentions, setting the $3 base fare to begin in January 2026.
  • OMNY’s rolling seven-day cap will be $35, fare-capping becomes permanent, and the 30-day unlimited MetroCard is eliminated.
  • Bridge and tunnel tolls will rise about 7.5%, bringing many E‑ZPass crossings to $7.46 in January.
  • LIRR and Metro-North fares increase up to roughly 4.4–4.5%, one-way tickets will expire at 4 a.m. the following day, and West-of-Hudson lines remain frozen.
  • MetroCard sales end Dec. 31 as OMNY becomes the primary payment system, buses will drop onboard coin payments later in 2026, and the new OMNY card fee rises to $2.
