Overview
- The court approved a one-year extension on Friday, Oct. 16, moving the repayment cut-off to Oct. 31, 2027 so the trustee can continue distributions where payment remains reasonably practicable.
- Trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi said many creditors remain unpaid because they have not completed required identity or claims procedures or because payments failed during processing.
- The trustee reported that base repayments, early lump-sum payments and intermediate repayments are largely complete for claimants who submitted correct information and had no issues.
- The Oct. 16 notice did not update how many creditors are unpaid, did not disclose how much Bitcoin or other assets remain, and did not provide timetables for individual payments.
- Distributions began in July 2024 through intermediaries such as Kraken, Bitstamp and custodians like BitGo, and blockchain trackers showed a June 2, 2026 transfer of 10,422 BTC with roughly 34,000–34,500 BTC reported under trustee control in mid-2026, leaving many claimants still waiting and reliant on the online rehabilitation system for status updates.
