MSRTC Sets 10% Festival Fare Hike for Oct. 15–Nov. 5, Exempting Shivneri and Shivai

The utility frames the move as a demand-management measure for the Diwali rush.

Overview

  • The increase applies to Ordinary, Semi-Luxury, Sleeper, Shivshahi and JanShivneri services, with premium AC Shivneri and Shivai buses excluded.
  • Trips starting from 00:00 on October 15 will be billed at the higher rate, and passengers with advance bookings must pay the difference at boarding.
  • Monthly and quarterly pass holders, along with student pass users, will continue to travel at existing rates during the period.
  • Electronic Ticket Issuing Machines across depots are being updated to reflect the temporary fare structure.
  • Normal fares resume on November 6, and the state signaled stricter enforcement of the 'No PUC, No Fuel' rule for motorists.
