MSRTC Launches 24x7 Student Helpline, Mandates Peak-Hour Supervision and Accountability

The 24x7 line follows student complaints of unreliable ST buses that disrupted classes.

Overview

  • MSRTC’s toll-free helpline 1800-221-251 (1800221251) is now active statewide for reporting delays, cancellations and breakdowns affecting student travel.
  • Depot supervisors must be present in uniform at major student-heavy stops from 5 pm to 6 pm on weekdays and remain until all students board safely.
  • Depot managers and supervisors will face suspension or compulsory leave if verified mismanagement leads to academic loss such as missed classes or exams.
  • Contact numbers for divisional controllers across all 31 divisions are being shared with schools and colleges to enable direct escalation by principals, teachers and students.
  • The measures were ordered by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik after complaints at Dharashiv Central Bus Stand, with the MSRTC General Manager (Traffic) instructed to implement them immediately.
