MSRTC Ferries 5.96 Lakh Ganeshotsav Travelers to Konkan, Reports Rs 23.77 Crore

Officials credit intensive staffing, highway repair squads and standby buses for an accident-free operation.

Overview

  • Special services ran from August 23 to September 8, completing 15,388 trips to manage the festival surge.
  • Around 5,000 additional buses were deployed across key routes serving the Konkan region.
  • MSRTC reported a zero-accident record, supported by mobile repair teams and 100 backup buses at Chiplun, Mahad and Mangaon depots.
  • More than 10,000 drivers, conductors, mechanics and supervisors staffed round-the-clock operations at depots and major halts.
  • Transport Minister and MSRTC chairman Pratap Sarnaik announced the figures, noting most passengers traveled from Mumbai, Thane and Palghar.
