MSRDC Blames Maintenance Nozzles, Not Nails, for Tyre Punctures on Samruddhi Expressway

Officials now penalize the contractor over faulty traffic control during the repair work.

Overview

  • MSRDC said aluminium nozzles installed for epoxy grouting were mistaken for nails after at least three cars suffered punctures near Daulatabad.
  • Video clips from the night showed sharp objects embedded in a 10–20 ft patch on the Mumbai-bound lanes as some vehicles entered the repair zone despite a diversion.
  • The agency reported all nozzles were removed by about 5:00 am and that traffic is flowing normally, with no injuries or crashes recorded.
  • MSRDC acknowledged inadequate on-site protection and said a fine is being imposed on the maintenance contractor for poor traffic-safety arrangements.
  • Police have summoned the contractor and others present for questioning, while widely shared claims of a tyre-repair gang remain unverified as the probe continues.
