Ms. Rachel Uses Glamour Red Carpet to Showcase Gaza Children’s Art on Upcycled Gown

She turned the look into a humanitarian message centered on named Gaza children.

Overview

  • At the Nov. 4 Glamour Women of the Year event at The Plaza in New York City, Ms. Rachel wore an upcycled black-and-white gown with a cape and train embroidered with drawings by children in Gaza.
  • On the red carpet she held photos of the young artists and identified them by name, including Ahmed, Luna and Rama, noting she knows the meaning behind each artwork.
  • During her acceptance speech she emphasized empathy, said “hateful responses aren’t what matters,” and ended by quoting Rama, who said her sisters “are not numbers… they shine and sparkle.”
  • She later posted each child’s photo alongside the corresponding embroidery on Instagram and said she made personal donations to all of them.
  • The custom look was led by stylist Risa Kostis with embroidery by L. W. Pearl Atelier and tailoring by Kaitlyn De La Cruz, as Ms. Rachel was honored as one of Glamour’s Women of the Year.
