Overview
- The Motion Picture Sound Editors announced on December 17 that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will receive the Filmmaker Award and supervising sound editor Mark Mangini will receive the Career Achievement Award.
- The Filmmaker Award recognizes an individual outside the sound community whose career demonstrates a clear understanding of the impact of sound editing.
- Kennedy oversees Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound and has produced or executive-produced more than 70 films that have garnered 120 Academy Award nominations and 25 wins.
- Mangini is a two-time Academy Award winner and six-time nominee with more than 170 credits, including Dune, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Blade Runner 2049.
- Both honors will be presented at MPSE’s 73rd Annual Golden Reel Awards Gala on March 8, 2026, at the Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, with MPSE president David Barber praising Kennedy’s influence and calling Mangini a giant of sound.
