- MPSC chairman Vivek Bhimanwar announced on Friday that all forthcoming preliminary examinations will be held in computer-based test (CBT) mode to speed up processing and improve transparency.
- The commission has set a target to declare preliminary results within 21 days and to finish full recruitment cycles in the year the exam is held, with interviews completed in nine to 11 months and written-only appointments in six to seven months.
- Mains and final exams for State Services and Group A, B and C posts will remain in the traditional pen-and-paper format, so the CBT change applies only to prelims.
- MPSC says it already has CBT experience from roughly 140 past exams and will use score normalisation like national exam bodies, but officials did not provide a detailed rollout schedule or operational capacity figures.
- Officials have named the Group C preliminary as the first major CBT pilot and said the commission will seek technical advice from experts such as IIT Bombay while the reform’s practical speed gains will depend on centre logistics, server management and scheduling for interviews.
