Overview

  • The PAC report brands government action on Horizon payouts “insufficient” and calls the process far too slow.
  • Just 21% of the 18,500 letters sent under the Horizon Shortfall Scheme have elicited responses from postmasters.
  • Around 800 sub-postmasters can claim up to £600,000 through the Horizon Convictions Redress Scheme, yet only 339 had accepted the settlement by end-March.
  • Of 111 wrongly convicted sub-postmasters eligible for full claims, 25 have not even submitted applications.
  • MPs demand that the Department for Business and Trade outline steps to boost claimant awareness and accelerate remaining payments.
