Overview

• The victim was lured from Assam to Jabalpur in May 2023 with a false promise of a managerial role at Hotel Atithi, owned by Chourasia and Mathura Prasad Dubey.
• She alleges Chourasia and Dubey repeatedly raped her before coercing her into prostitution as part of a sex racket run from the hotel.
• After escaping, she filed a complaint on June 1 that led to Chourasia’s arrest late that night under sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita covering rape, criminal intimidation and running a flesh trade place.
• Mathura Prasad Dubey remains at large as police broaden their probe to identify further victims and dismantle the trafficking network.
• Jabalpur City BJP president Ratnesh Sonkar confirmed Chourasia held no active party post and announced a meeting to suspend his primary membership.
