Mountain Warehouse Reports £449.2m Revenue Surge and Unveils 50-Store Expansion

Backed by private equity, the retailer is pushing real-estate-led expansion to reach nearly £500m in sales.

Overview

  • The group lifted revenue by 16.4% to £449.2m for the year to February after opening 65 stores, including 27 new UK sites and 12 relocations.
  • Mountain Warehouse now operates over 400 outlets worldwide and plans up to 50 further openings and relocations in the current financial year.
  • The firm has prioritised larger-format shops in former Topshop and Wilko units and out-of-town retail parks to broaden assortments with dedicated categories such as ski wear.
  • This expansion strategy stands in contrast to PwC data showing a net loss of 3,802 UK retail outlets in 2024 and ongoing cost pressures across the sector.
  • Founder Mark Neale said the strong pipeline of larger stores should drive revenue toward the £500m mark in the coming year.
