Mountain Lion Reported in Sebastopol as Police and Animal Services Search

The search follows multiple backyard reports in the city’s south end.

  • Sebastopol police received several Sunday morning reports of a mountain lion within city limits, including backyards near Jewel Avenue, Walnut Avenue and Shaun Court.
  • The animal was last seen traveling westbound on First Street, according to police.
  • Officers and North Bay Animal Services were actively searching the area as of about 11 a.m., with no capture or injuries reported.
