- Heather Wayment was reported missing on Sept. 17 after her vehicle was found at the Prairie Creek trailhead in Blaine County.
- The next day, three Pocatello mountain bikers discovered her in Camas County about 17 miles away, dehydrated, disoriented and barefoot with bleeding feet.
- Three dirt bikers who arrived later recognized her as the missing hiker, shared food and helped move her to a meadow suitable for a helicopter landing.
- Using GPS, the onX mapping app and satellite texts relayed through a family contact, the group provided coordinates that brought a Life Flight helicopter to the area.
