Motorola Begins Android 17 Rollout for 50+ Phones

It brings foldable-focused HelloUI features to users, signaling a faster update pace for Motorola.

Overview

  • Motorola published a confirmed eligibility list covering more than 50 models from 2024–2026, including Razr foldables, Edge flagships, multiple Moto G phones and the Motorola Signature.
  • The company has started a phased stable rollout, with the Motorola Edge 2025 reported as the first device to receive Android 17 beginning Tuesday, Aug. 11, and other models scheduled in waves that vary by region and carrier.
  • Motorola says newer premium devices such as the Razr 70 and Edge 70 families are likely to be prioritized while lower‑tier and older models will get updates in the coming weeks and months.
  • HelloUI on Android 17 adds specific features including Live Updates (a Dynamic Island‑style alert), the Qira Moto AI assistant, lock‑screen customization, resizable Quick Settings tiles, refreshed haptics, tinted icons and a redesigned volume panel.
  • Users should check Settings > System > System updates, back up data, use Wi‑Fi and charge devices before installing; Motorola ran an Android 17 beta starting in February which helped expand device support ahead of this stable rollout and may shorten wait times compared with past upgrades.
